Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris criticized her Republican opponent Donald Trump on Wednesday, labeling him “unstable” and a danger to US democracy during a tense interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier.

In her rare appearance on the conservative network, Harris and Baier engaged in a contentious exchange, frequently interrupting one another. Harris seized the opportunity to challenge Trump’s recent rhetoric, particularly his comments about the “enemy within” and his suggestion of using military force against political opponents, asserting these statements highlight his unfitness for a second term.

“You and I both know that he has talked about turning the American military on the American people. He has talked about going after people who are engaged in peaceful protest. He has talked about locking people up because they disagree with him,” Harris stated, emphasizing that the president should manage criticism without resorting to threats of imprisonment.

Continuing her critique, Harris described Trump as “unfit and dangerous,” citing warnings from his former advisers regarding his mental stability. She pointed out that the former chief of staff, defense secretaries, national security adviser, and even his vice president have expressed concerns about his capability to serve effectively.

Amid the interview’s interruptions, Harris articulated her views on immigration and border control to the conservative audience, which she seldom addresses directly. As the discussion wrapped up, she made a pointed remark towards Baier, expressing a desire for a conversation grounded in factual assessment.

“Madam Vice President, they are wrapping me very hard here,” Baier responded before ending the interview.

In reaction to Harris’s remarks, Trump took to social media, accusing her of suffering from “a massive and irredeemable case of TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.” He commended Baier for conducting a “tough but very fair” interview, claiming it revealed Harris as “totally incompetent.” Trump further suggested that for the nation’s sake, her cognitive abilities should be evaluated.

As the presidential election approaches on November 5, both candidates are intensifying their campaign efforts to persuade voters.
