Conservative commentator Candace Owens has launched a scathing attack on FBI Director Kash Patel, accusing him of obstructing efforts to investigate the murder of Charlie Kirk, a close ally of former President Donald Trump. Owens said she does “not trust him at all,” questioning why Patel appears upset with other officials trying to solve the case.
Charlie Kirk, 31, was shot dead during a university event in Utah on September 10. The prime suspect, Tyler Robinson, was arrested within 33 hours of the killing. However, tensions have escalated in Washington over how the case is being handled.
Candace Owens Blasts Patel on Social Media
Candace Owens took to X after The New York Times reported that Patel was “alarmed” by the involvement of Joe Kent, who heads the National Counterterrorism Centre. The report said Patel and other senior FBI officials believed Kent was “overstepping” by reviewing FBI materials linked to the case.
Sharing a screenshot of the article, Owens wrote, “This article is literally about how Kash Patel is upset that Joe Kent and Tulsi Gabbard are trying to do their jobs and solve the Charlie Kirk murder case.” She added, “It’s like Kash Patel wants to be the sole point person on this—why? I do not trust him at all.”

The Times article also revealed that Kent’s efforts to review internal FBI data became a topic of discussion at a White House meeting, attended by Patel, Kent, Tulsi Gabbard, Vice President JD Vance, and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
White House and FBI Under Scrutiny
According to sources cited by the report, Patel was “troubled” that Kent accessed internal FBI case files. Senior officials feared this could “interfere with the investigation and prosecution” of the main suspect.
The internal dispute reportedly created friction within the intelligence community and raised concerns about political influence in the ongoing investigation.
Owens’s post amplified growing doubts among conservative circles about the FBI’s transparency. Her criticism comes amid calls from right-wing commentators for more accountability and public disclosure in the Kirk case.
Owens Promises to ‘Find the Truth’
On her recent podcast, Owens said she intends to uncover what really happened the day Kirk was killed. She declared, “I want a war with Turning Point USA and everyone who was around Kirk on the day of his assassination. I am determined to find out what the hell happened on September 10th.”
Her remarks have reignited debates over trust in federal agencies, especially among conservatives who believe the FBI is politicizing investigations.
With prominent figures like Tulsi Gabbard and Joe Kent reportedly clashing with Kash Patel, the case has evolved beyond a murder investigation—it now highlights deep divisions within US political and intelligence circles over transparency and authority.
