A tragic shooting in Midtown Manhattan on Monday left six people dead, including a New York Police Department officer and the alleged gunman, who was later identified as Shane Devon Tamura, a 27-year-old man from Las Vegas. The attack took place at 345 Park Avenue, a building that houses major organizations like Blackstone and the NFL headquarters.

According to CNN, Tamura entered the building around 6:30 p.m. local time, carrying an assault rifle equipped with a silencer. He began firing inside the lobby while approximately 30 people were present. Authorities have released a surveillance image showing Tamura wearing sunglasses and holding a rifle as he moved through the building.
Initially, officials reported that the shooter was “neutralised.” Police Commissioner Jessica S Tisch stated on X (formerly Twitter), “At this time, the scene has been contained and the lone shooter has been neutralised.” However, later updates confirmed that Tamura died by suicide, with his body found on the 33rd floor of the same building.

Sources also revealed that a vehicle with Nevada license plates, registered to Shane Tamura, was found near the scene.

Photos reviewed by U.S. media showed Tamura held a concealed firearms permit issued in Las Vegas. Another image showed the blood-stained AR-15 rifle believed to have been used during the deadly rampage.

A resurfaced interview clip from nearly ten years ago, believed to feature Tamura, is now going viral on X (formerly Twitter). The video, titled “Granada Hills Football,” appears to show Tamura as a high school running back in California. This clip is now part of the growing discussion online about his past and possible motives.
While police have not confirmed the exact reason behind Tamura’s actions, many online users are speculating that his attack may have been aimed at the NFL headquarters due to his failure to make it to the professional league.
