Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist and close ally of former US President Donald Trump, was shot dead on September 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University. Police and the FBI have launched a large manhunt for the suspect, and the photos of a person of interest have already been released.

Amid the investigation, screenshots of a book titled ‘The Shooting of Charlie Kirk: A Comprehensive Account of the Utah Valley University Attack, the Aftermath, and America’s Response’ began circulating on social media. The book, attributed to author Anastasia J. Casey, appeared to show a September 9, 2025, publication date, one day before Kirk’s death.

Amazon Responded

Amazon has confirmed that it removed a book about Charlie Kirk’s shooting after confusion over its publication date caused an uproar online.

An Amazon spokesperson said the company investigated the issue. “We have content guidelines governing which books can be listed for sale, and we remove books that do not adhere to these guidelines. The title in question is no longer available for sale. Due to a technical issue, the date of publication that had been displayed for this title, while it was briefly listed, was incorrect, and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused. The title was published late in the afternoon on September 10th,” the spokesperson said in a statement to HT.com.

Social Media Outrage

The book listing has since been removed from Amazon, but images of the cover and date spread quickly on platforms like X (formerly Twitter).

One user wrote, “Can someone investigate this perhaps? It’s now pulled from Amazon online listing. Who is Anastasia Casey? Regardless of the credibility of the 9.9 publish date, how did this book get out so quick.”

Another post read, “What would be the implications of this? An Amazon author named Anastasia Casey writes a book on the death of Charlie Kirk and publishes it on Amazon the day before his untimely demise? Where it gets really weird is that she apparently works at an AI company.”

A third user added, “The Shooting of Charlie Kirk by Anastasia J. Casey published SEPTEMBER 9th 2025 a full day before Charlie was shot. This was all orchestrated. Who is Anastasia J. Casey???”

Others questioned the timing and suggested foul play. One post said, “This raises some questions about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. How does Anastasia J. Casey’s book have a publication date of September 9, 2025?!?! He was shot and killed on the 10th of September. This is INSANE.”

Justification by Amazon

Amazon has clarified that the September 9 date was a technical glitch, not a real publication date. The company confirmed the book was only published after the shooting. The listing was removed after failing to meet Amazon’s content guidelines.

The controversy continues to fuel speculation online, with many questioning the author’s identity and the timing of the book.
