White House Faces Backlash Over AI-Generated Labubu Post. (Image Source: @MAGAVoice)
The White House official social media accounts have again sparked controversy after sharing an unorthodox artificial intelligence–created image of a Labubu doll. The design seemed to bear a resemblance to a man who was recently arrested by immigration agents in New Orleans.
The article had the headline "Deported Edition Labubu, Sexual Predator, Illegal Alien Arrested by ICE," written in the format of a Labubu toy box. The package featured the seal of the White House, ice and snow designs in reference to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), and the phrase "Deported!" at the bottom.

In a follow-up thread on X, the shackled cartoon character on the box was modeled after Cristian Soto-Galeano, who is a Guatemalan citizen in ICE custody in New Orleans. The description, "W*. Maybe Labubus are demonic,"* is comparable to a recent South Park episode involving Labubu dolls used during a ritual.
The post drew extensive condemnation on the internet. A user asked whether the White House Twitter account had been hacked, and others accused the administration of using official pages as "memes and trolling." Some called the post unprofessional and shameful.
It's not the first time that the White House has been rebuked for AI-generated posts. Official accounts have previously posted images of erstwhile President Donald Trump in dramatized scenarios, including at the Roman Colosseum, as Superman, or with the Pope. The posts have added fire to existing controversy regarding the seriousness and credibility of official communication.
