A foiled coordinated bomb plot by the FBI in Los Angeles has once again brought into perspective how domestic extremist networks can turn into serious national security threats in the shortest time. As millions prepared for New Year’s Eve celebrations, federal agents moved swiftly to dismantle a plot which could have resulted in the mass causality across the city.
Turtle Island Plot Uncovered
According to FBI Director Kash Patel, investigators identified a credible and imminent threat associated with a fringe group known as the Turtle Island Liberation Front. The group was characterized as pro-Palestinian and also staunchly anti-government, having mapped out simultaneous IED attacks at several locations around Los Angeles.

According to authorities, the detailed preparations of the group showed no doubt about their intentions and capabilities.
Who Was Arrested
Federal prosecutors identified four suspects arrested in the Los Angeles area Audrey Carroll, Zachary Aaron Page, Dante Garfield and Tina Lai. All have been charged with conspiracy and possession of an unregistered destructive device with additional charges anticipated as investigators sift through evidence seized.
A fifth person, arrested in a separate but related action in New Orleans, is suspected of belonging to the same far-left cell and plotting a second violent assault.
What is Turtle Island Liberation Front
Authorities describe TILF as an offshoot of far-left, anti-capitalist activism that has drifted into violent extremism. Detailed plans at the core of the group’s alleged plans included a blueprint detailing how to make improvised explosive devices and a target list across Los Angeles and Orange County.

Investigators say the organization also expressed interest in harming federal immigration officers and damaging government vehicles, signaling a broader anti-state agenda.
A Timely Intervention
The FBI’s rapid disruption of the plot prevented what officials believe could have been one of the most dangerous coordinated attacks in recent memory. As the investigation widens, federal authorities say the arrests reflect ongoing efforts to stay ahead of emerging threats, especially from domestic extremist networks combining political anger with operational planning.
This case is a sharp reminder of how online radicalization can quickly turn into real-world violence and how important intelligence-driven intervention has become.
