Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that he will visit Washington on Monday to meet the US President Donald Trump after his high-stakes meeting with the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The meeting will focus on finding a way to end the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, according to Zelensky.
“On Monday, I will meet with President Trump in Washington, D.C., to discuss all of the details regarding ending the killing and the war,” Zelensky said in his announcement. He added, “I am grateful for the invitation.”

The announcement of the meeting between Trump and Zelensky came after the US President called Zelensky and briefed him about the ‘main points’ of his meeting with Putin in Alaska.

The high-stakes summit in Alaska caught global attention with hopes of a ceasefire announcement on the three-year long ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, however, no such announcement has been made.
Zelensky said that the call with the US President was ‘long and substantive’. At first, the dialogue remined between the two of them and later other European leaders joined in the discussion.
