A tragic event occurred at Brown University in Rhode Island, USA, on Saturday as a shooter went on a firing spree at the university. 2 killed, with eight injured, as confirmed by the authorities. This is even as students were writing their final exams.

Brown University Shooting Suspect Description

The perpetrator, who is a male wearing black, is still on the loose. This was confirmed by Deputy Chief of Police Timothy O’Hara, who revealed that the last time the suspect was spotted was while he left the engineering building where the attack occurred.

More than three hours after the initial gunfire, police were searching for any sign of the attacker among the campus buildings.

Due to the threat, Mayor Smiley promptly issued a shelter-in-place notice for the surrounding area of the campus.

He encouraged residents to stay indoors and not return home until such a time that the order would be lifted. This would ensure that public safety is not compromised throughout the search process.

Shooting at Barus & Holley Building

This shooting took place within theĀ Barus & Holley building, which is home to the School of Engineering as well as the physics department. At the time of the shooting, students were engaged in active engineering design exams.

Trump Briefed the Incident

US President Donald Trump was briefed about the incident, with initial comments from the leader at the White House: ā€œAll we can do right now is pray for the victims.ā€

He later commented on his social media platform that it was true that the FBI was present to help with the situation.

US Vice President JD Vance commented on social media platform X that the news is ā€˜Terrible’ with assurance that the FBI is ready to help the local law enforcement.

That the search is still on is a reflection of the severity of the threat, with the Brown University community being left in a state of nervous anticipation.
