The perpetrator, who is a male wearing black, is still on the loose. This was confirmed by Deputy Chief of Police Timothy OāHara, who revealed that the last time the suspect was spotted was while he left the engineering building where the attack occurred.
More than three hours after the initial gunfire, police were searching for any sign of the attacker among the campus buildings.
Due to the threat, Mayor Smiley promptly issued a shelter-in-place notice for the surrounding area of the campus.
He encouraged residents to stay indoors and not return home until such a time that the order would be lifted. This would ensure that public safety is not compromised throughout the search process.

US President Donald Trump was briefed about the incident, with initial comments from the leader at the White House: āAll we can do right now is pray for the victims.ā
He later commented on his social media platform that it was true that the FBI was present to help with the situation.
