Donald Trump immigration warning Europe during Scotland visit sparks debate, says unchecked migration is "killing" the continent.

US President Donald Trump issued a strong warning about immigration in Europe as he arrived in Scotland on Saturday, July 26, for a weekend trip. During his brief interaction with the press after stepping off Air Force One, Trump claimed that the ongoing migrant inflow could wipe out the continent's identity if left unchecked.

He said Europe faces an “invasion” and urged immediate and tough action on immigration. His comments came ahead of his scheduled meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who has also raised similar concerns about rising immigration.

'You Won’t Have Europe Anymore': Trump

President Trump did not mince words while speaking to reporters. He declared, “You won’t have Europe anymore”, if European nations fail to control immigration.

“There are a couple of things I could say, but on immigration, you’ve got to get your act together. This immigration is killing Europe,” he stated.

He further added, “Last month we had nobody entering our country. We shut it down. We took out a lot of bad people that got there when Biden... Biden was a total stiff when he allowed it to happen.” Trump contrasted the US approach under his leadership with what he described as Europe's ongoing failure.

Starmer, Meloni, and Others Share the Alarm

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has echoed Trump’s concerns. He recently warned that without tighter immigration controls, Britain could “become an island of strangers.” His government has already moved forward with policies to strengthen border control.

Elsewhere in Europe, leaders are taking firm positions. Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has asserted she will not let Italy turn into “Europe’s refugee camp.” France and Britain also signed a migrant return agreement this month to tackle rising illegal crossings over the English Channel.

UN Data Highlights Europe’s Migrant Load

According to United Nations data, Europe hosted 87 million international migrants in 2020. The rising numbers have led many leaders to call for a shift in migration policies.

During this trip, Trump is also expected to open a second golf course in Scotland, dedicated to his Scottish-born mother. Additionally, he will return to the UK for a state visit scheduled from September 17 to 19.
