President Donald Trump of the US dismissed rumors circulating that he will name the new White House ballroom costing $300 million after himself “These are fake news”, Trump told the reporters just before leaving for an Asian trip.

He clarified, “I don’t have any plan to call it after myself Probably going to call it the presidential ballroom or something like that. We haven’t really thought about a name yet.” Despite Trump’s denial, some who work for him have already referred to the site as “The President Donald J. Trump Ballroom”, deepening the discussions on naming the treasured space.

Historic Concerns Spark Backlash

The project has infuriated preservationists and historic conservation advocates since if the East Wing is torn down for the new ballroom with the architectural integrity of the White House complex could be compromised. Prominent figures, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Governor Gavin Newsom of California, condemned it on social media.

In his post on X, Newsom compared the demolition to the undermining of constitutional principles “Ripping apart the White House just like he’s ripping apart the Constitution.” This controversy is emblematic of attempts made to modernize facilities in America while still conserving historic landmarks.

When asked directly whether he would donate to the fundraiser, Trump replied, “I’ll donate whatever’s needed, I’ll tell you that.”

He further reprimanded the previous administrations that of Joe Biden for neglecting the White House, casting the new project as more of a restoration in which to restore the presidential residence to its former glory.

Renovations For Future Generations

White House officials have insisted that the upgrades were made for the benefit of the current administration and all future presidents and visitors. According to Davis Ingle, a White House spokesperson, “President Trump is working 24/7 to Make America Great Again, including his historic beautification of the White House, at no taxpayer expense.

These long-needed upgrades will benefit generations of future presidents and American visitors to the People’s House-something we should all celebrate.” Trump appears confident that the completed ballroom will be “the most beautiful ballroom anywhere in the world” and so the project is seen as his living legacy in beauty and national pride.
