US president, Donald Trump and Russian president, Vladimir Putin met in Alaska for a meeting and a joint conference recently. Trump called the discussion productive. However, no announcement of ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine has been made after the summit. 

In a surprising moment, Trump delivered a personal letter from first Lady Melania Trump to the Russian president. The White House officials asserted that even though Melania could not travel for the summit, she strongly feels about addressing the suffering of children caught in the war.

What was Written in Melania’s Letter?

According to routers, Melania’s letter to Putin speaks about the hardships faced by children in both Ukraine and Russia. Officials said that millennium highlighted the issue of child abductions, which Ukraine has long raised at international forums in the letter. 

Ukraine has accused Russia of abducting children and keeping them captive and occupied regions. Kyiv cause this an act of genocide under the international law. The UN Human Rights office has also confirmed that millions of Ukrainian. Children have been victims to severe violence since Russia’s invasion in 2022.

On the other hand, Moscow claims that these relocations are supposed to ‘protect vulnerable and orphaned children from the war’. Although Ukraine and the West nations call this practice a war crime.

The high-stakes meeting in Alaska between the US and Russian presidents lasted nearly 3 hours. Both global leaders appear briefly before the press and stated that only limited progress has been made, without giving any key details. They did not answer questions, only diplomatic remarks were provided during the conference.
