US Secretary of State Marco and Israel's Foreign Minister Gidon Saar held a meeting in Washington to discuss their positions on various issues and reaffirm cooperation to ensure prosperity for both nations.
The US Secretary of State met with Israel's Foreign Minister on Wednesday (local time). He later shared an update on his meeting with the Israeli minister on his X (Formerly Twitter) account. In his post, he emphasised the two nations "close cooperation" that plays a key role in "ensuring security and prosperity."
"Met with Israeli Foreign Minister @gidonsaar today to reaffirm our two nations’ close cooperation that is vital to ensuring security and prosperity in the region," Rubin wrote in his post.
According to The Times of Israel, in their discussion, the Israeli Foreign Minister expressed gratitude towards the US and the Trump administration for their unwavering support for Israel during key moments.
The support refers to the US backing Israel during the war in Gaza despite severe backlash and protests held in support of Palestine. The war, which turned hot on 07th October 2023, has been a topic of headlines for a while and has claimed over 60,000 lives.

Another major topic discussed by the two was their cooperation to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power. This, along with their cooperation on issues regarding Gaza, Lebanon and Syria, makes their relationship key for ensuring “security and prosperity” in the region.
This cooperation between the two refers to America’s interference in the Iran-Israel war with Operation Midnight Hammer. In this operation, America utilised its military prowess to take out three of Iran’s nuclear sites on June 22, 2025.

In addition, the US Secretary of State also raised the Iran issue in conversation with European officials.
In his statement, Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott shared that Rubio had a conversation with officials from Germany, France and the UK to discuss their position on Iran and establish the objective of never allowing Iran to become a nuclear power.
“Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noél Barrot, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy to discuss Iran. All reiterated their commitment to ensuring that Iran never develops or obtains a nuclear weapon,” said Tommy Pigott, Principal Deputy Spokesperson.
