Disney World, situated in Florida has seen various storms over the years. Once again, the weather concern is Tropical Storm Erin, which formed earlier this week and is expected to develop into a full-fledged hurricane.

The National Hurricane Centre reported on August 12 that Erin had formed in the Atlantic, around 690 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands. The highest sustained winds were recorded near 45 mph for the storm.

The centre stated, “Gradual strengthening is forecast over the next several days, and Erin is expected to become a hurricane in the next couple of days.”

According to the forecast, Erin could reach its hurricane stage by Thursday, August 14. It is predicted to head towards the north, but the timing and exact path remain unclear. It is still unclear if Florida or Disney World will feel any effects.

Disney World Monitoring the Situation

Disney World closely monitors severe weather conditions to ensure its guests remain safe and sound. In the past, such hurricanes and tropical storms have caused the closure of all four parks, transportation suspension, and even evacuation of certain areas like The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.

The resort hotels usually stay open during stormy situations, but outdoor rides like Slinky Dog Dash, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and Expedition Everest close due to heavy rainfall and winds.

Although the details of arrival of Erin is uncertain, Disney World will continuously monitor developments and act accordingly.
