A shocking incident unfolded on Monday evening in Midtown Manhattan, where at least three people were shot inside a well-known office building on Park Avenue. Among the injured was a New York City police officer, according to official sources.
The New York Fire Department shared that emergency teams rushed to the scene around 6:30 PM after receiving a call about gunfire in the building. The structure is home to several major institutions such as Blackstone, Deutsche Bank, JPMorgan, and the Consulate General of Ireland.
As of now, the police have not released any more information regarding the identities of the victims, the suspect, or the motive behind the shooting.
Television footage from local news outlets showed people hurriedly leaving the building, raising their hands as a safety measure during evacuation. The situation clearly caused widespread alarm in one of New York’s busiest commercial areas.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino posted on social media that their agents were on the scene and supporting local police at what he described as an “active crime scene.”
New York City Mayor Eric Adams also addressed the public online, saying that an “active shooter investigation” was in progress. He urged residents and people nearby to stay inside and “take safety precautions.”
The city’s emergency alert system issued warnings about traffic disruptions, road closures, and delays in public transportation around the incident site. Authorities asked commuters and locals to remain cautious while they managed the emergency.
