After 20-year-old Sarah Carroll was killed in Westland in what police have established was a murder-suicide, the neighborhood is in shock. On Saturday, August 30, Sarah was shot by her ex-boyfriend, according to the authorities. He then turned the pistol on himself after reporting the murder to 911.
Gathering for a vigil, friends and relatives remembered Sarah as a brilliant, ambitious young woman whose life was taken far too soon
Sarah was pursuing her studies to become a physician assistant at Schoolcraft College. She was doing exceptionally well in school, according to her father, James Carroll, who stated that she was on the Dean's List. Every time she entered a room, she would illuminate it. She was quite intelligent and had a beautiful grin. She was a lovely individual.
Sarah was in the process of requesting a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, who she claimed had been stalking her for two months, according to her mother, Jennifer Carroll.
As Jennifer recalled her daughter's lively personality, she remarked, "She was alive, she was hilarious, she was brilliant, she had everything going for her."
According to police sources, Sarah's ex-boyfriend Lincoln admitted to killing his girlfriend over the phone soon after the shooting. Officers discovered the man and Sarah dead when they got to the Westland, Michigan, apartment complex.
According to witnesses who spoke to Westland Community News, Sarah had confronted her ex that evening before he fired a shotgun.
Before Lincoln committed the murder, Carroll was attempting to obtain a personal protection order against Lincoln, according to Jennifer. "She spent nearly a year with her ex-boyfriend Lincoln, and they were having problems," her mother claimed. For the last two months, he had been following her. He brought her here last night, shot her, dialed 911, and claimed to have killed his girlfriend before shooting himself.
Jennifer disclosed that neither she nor James were told by Carroll that she was being stalked. "Watch your kids, other parents," Jennifer said to Click on Detroit. "attempt to learn more about them, and attempt to get them to talk to you and be open."
James asserted that when Lincoln killed Carroll, he "was suffering from mental disease." He said that a shotgun was used to shoot his daughter multiple times.

Sarah’s family has received an overwhelming wave of support. A GoFundMe fundraiser to help cover funeral expenses has already raised more than $12,000.
James Carroll expressed the family’s gratitude on social media: “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are truly overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, support, and generosity. Every donation, share, and prayer means more to us than words can express. In such a heartbreaking time, your kindness has brought comfort and light to our family.”
The fundraiser describes Sarah as:
“So full of life, smart, brave, strong, and with a smile that lit up every room she entered. She was only just beginning her journey, and losing her at such a young age is something no family should ever have to go through.”
In addition to her academic accomplishments, Sarah is known for the impact she had on others. She had everyone's affection. "Everyone she encountered," her father James remarked. "I will miss my little one."
New discussions concerning the significance of combating domestic abuse and guaranteeing more robust safeguards for individuals requesting restraining orders have been spurred by the tragedy.
