US President Donald Trump has again boasted of his so-called unmatched skill in negotiating peace all over the globe in his most recent White House speech, Trump boasted of having helped bring an end to the short but fierce military confrontation between Pakistan and India, crediting his intervention with having stopped the conflict within 24 hours.

The comment has sparked renewed controversy over his repeated boasts as an international peacemaker and the truthfulness of his words on the South Asian conflict.

Trump's Peace Claim & Tariff Talk

Trump touted his trade policies in his address and asserted that economic pressure via tariffs imposed stability on international relations. He suddenly switched to India and Pakistan, stating, "Seven brand new, beautiful planes were shot down," citing the 2024 cross-border fighting between the two nuclear powers.

Trump said his personal intervention averted a more extensive conflict something Pakistan has corroborated but India has neither confirmed nor agreed with.

India's Strong Denial

India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) swiftly rejected Trump's account. MEA official Randhir Jaiswal explained there was "no recent conversation" between former US president Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the war.

Previously, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri assured that India's decisions including Operation Sindoor, were autonomous choices made to ensure national security.

"Operation Sindoor was an urge," Misri clarified, stating that precision attacks were made on terror camps within Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) following the Pahalgam attack that left 26 civilians dead.

"Our intelligence indicated another round of attacks were on the cards," he further explained, emphasizing that India had acted preemptively and not under any foreign pressure.

What is the Four-Day Conflict

The India-Pakistan shootout lasted four days and was characterized by air battles and firing on both sides of the border. It came to an end after Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) from both nations decided on a ceasefire over a hot line phone call while Trump's words paint the outcome as his own diplomatic victory, official documents indicate the ceasefire was the result of direct military communications between New Delhi and Islamabad.
