A severe police incident is unfolding in York County, Pennsylvania, after an officer-involved shooting on Haar Road left multiple law enforcement officers injured, prompting a massive emergency response and forcing local schools into lockdown.
The incident is centered in the 1800 block of Haar Road in North Codorus Township. The severity of law enforcement injuries is the most important detail to emerge. Multiple officers have been confirmed injured, according to authorities. Given the severity of their injuries, at least two officers needed to be medically evacuated right away.
In response to the ongoing threat, the Spring Grove School District enacted immediate safety protocols. The district announced on its website that all schools, from kindergarten through 12th grade, are under a shelter-in-place order.
Officials were quick to reassure parents and the community, explicitly stating that the dangerous situation is "unrelated to students and staff." The measure is a precaution to ensure student safety while police manage the incident.

The incident has drawn attention from the highest levels of state government. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro addressed the public via a post on the social media platform X.
“I’ve been briefed on the situation involving law enforcement in York County, and am on my way there now," Governor Shapiro stated. He urged citizens, “We ask those in the area to please follow the directions of local law enforcement and @PAStatePolice.”
The investigation is in its earliest stages. The area remains an active crime scene, and authorities are expected to continue their operations for several hours. There will be updates on the condition of the injured police officers and the status of the suspect while law enforcement officers secure the area and gather information. As this serious scenario unfolds, residents are urged to stay away from the Haar Road area and to follow all police directions
