During a Wednesday roundtable discussion on Antifa with conservative social media influencers in the Blue Room of the White House, Secretary of State Marco Rubio quietly handed US President Donald Trump a handwritten note, indicating a breakthrough in Middle East peace negotiations. The meeting had been in progress for almost two hours when Rubio, positioned in the back of a corner, gestured to Trump.
Following a brief mutter, Rubio passed the crumpled note, which Associated Press photographers recorded: "You need to approve a Truth Social post soon so you can announce the deal first."
Trump read the note but continued engaging with influencers and the media before addressing the development. “We’re very close to a deal in the Middle East,” he said, noting that US negotiators were working with senior officials, including Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, on a third day of talks aimed at resolving core issues between Israel and Hamas.

Despite Rubio looking visibly nervous, Trump stayed on stage, answering questions and even offering Attorney General Pam Bondi and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to answer questions for him. Almost 10 minutes afterwards, he accepted the urgency: "I have to go now to try and solve some problems in the Middle East—although our secretary of state is very capable."
At 6:51 pm, close to two hours since he had received the note, Trump made a statement on Truth Social that Israel and Hamas had signed up to the first part of a US-governed peace plan, with a goal of ending the ongoing war in Gaza.
In accordance with the president, the deal involves the near release of hostages and coordinated withdrawal of Israeli troops. The president commended the Qatari, Egyptian, and Turkish mediators in a historic moment: "BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!"
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also greeted the announcement as a 'great day for Israel.' On X, he stated that he will meet with the government tomorrow to sign off on the agreement and ensure all hostages are returned.
