Tens of thousands of people are expected to gather nationwide on Saturday, August 2 to- as organizers have dubbed it “Rage Against the Regime” of President Donald Trump. A series of demonstrations under the name "Rage Against the Regime" protests have been expanded across the nation in advance of their August 2 date, reports NewsWeek.
The new wave of protests- the latest round of peaceful summertime demonstrations in hundreds of locations across the country- is aimed to bring together masses against the administration's actions, said the organizers. The demonstrations on Saturday are particularly concerned about aggressive immigration enforcement, dismantling of government programs and agencies from Medicaid to the National Weather Service, and attacks on democratic institutions, said a news release.
New Yorkers are preparing for yet another day of demonstrations this weekend as multiple "Rage Against the Regime" rallies are scheduled across the state. Earlier this week, the 50501 movement, which is organizing the protests, announced that there were 300 protests planned against President Donald Trump this weekend. But on Friday, that number was boosted to 425.
The 50501 movement has chosen Saturday, Aug. 2 to be its next National Day of Action. The organizers aim to bring attention to the Trump administration's continued failure to make public more information regarding deceased infamous child sex offender and scandalized financer Jeffrey Epstein.
Its name is not only a tongue-in-cheek reference to the name of the US rock band Rage Against the Machine, but a reflection of public outrage.
“People don’t know what to do with their rage,” Hunter Dunn, a national spokesperson for the 50501 protest group, which is organizing the rally, told USA TODAY. “Let’s give them something productive.”
Since Donald Trump took office again in January, he has been struck by several synchronized protests from various groups. One happened during the Memorial Day weekend, while others were launched on Flag Day and Trump's birthday. The protests have crossed national borders. Protesters in Scotland also protested Trump's recent trip to Scotland.
Protests against the Trump administration are occurring because of: the supposed weaponizing of ICE against people, supposed building of concentration camps (Alligator Alcatraz), supposed cover up of the Jeffrey Epstein documents, supposed attacks on the rights of transgender people, the supposed removal of Medicaid, SNAP (food stamps), USAID, the Department of Education, NOAA and the National Weather Service.
"On this day, we come together to transform anger into action, harnessing the energy of collective resistance," a section of the Rage Against the Regime's website states. "Our movement is rooted in non-violence, but it is far from passive. We stand strong, bold and unyielding, showing the world the irresistible force of communities united against injustice."
Americans have been strongly opposed to various issues, such as budget reduction made by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Trump's policy of tariffs, his overall control of the economy, and the response of the administration towards documents connected with the deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
'Rage Against the Regime' protests are set to take place across various regions, with several events planned in the Finger Lakes and Hudson Valley areas.
In the Finger Lakes region, demonstrations will be held in Rochester on Monroe Avenue from 4 to 6 p.m., Fairport at Perinton Park or Potter Park from 10 a.m. to noon, Hamlin at the Hamlin Town Hall from 2 to 4 p.m., Canandaigua at the corner of Main Street and Eastern Boulevard from 2 to 4 p.m., and Seneca Falls at 136 Fall St. from 1 to 3 p.m.
In the Hudson Valley region, protests are scheduled in Catskill at the Greene County Courthouse from noon to 1 p.m., Hudson at 7th Street Park from noon to 1 p.m., Nanuet at 4 NY 59 from noon to 1:30 p.m., Mount Kisco at the Village Hall from 1 to 2 p.m., and Mamaroneck at BMW from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
The Center for American Progress stated on X that if just 3.5% of Americans approximately 12 million people mobilize to peacefully protest the authoritarian actions of the Trump administration, it would be virtually impossible for the government to ignore their demands.
Tens of thousands will participate in demonstrations set across America, which will be happening in all states of the nation and in the big cities like Los Angeles, Atlanta and Houston. These events are organized by 278 connected groups, as per NewsWeek.
There are rallies set for cities nationwide, including 20 rallies in New York state, on a map provided on the Rage Against the Regime website. Another protest against the Trump Administration is set to occur at the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building Saturday. Protests will be from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. and include speakers, music, and more.
