In a chilling case that shocked the UK, Colombian national Yostin Andres Mosquera, 35, was found guilty on Tuesday of killing Albert Alfonso and Paul Longworth, a west London couple. The conviction was heavily based on gruesome video evidence in which Mosquera was seen dancing naked and drenched in blood just hours after the killings.
The crime was committed in July 2024, and The New York Post reported that Mosquera was dancing and singing in the videos recorded moments after the killings.
The Gruesome Aftermath
Mosquera dismembered the victims; 62-year-old Albert and 71-year-old Paul two days after killing them and packed body parts into two suitcases. He went to Bristol, where he threw the suitcases off the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge.
Police followed the suspect after finding an address on one of the bags, which led them to the shared flat in Shepherd’s Bush where the murders had taken place. Inside the flat, officials discovered the severed heads of both men in the freezer, according to The Guardian.
How Albert and Paul Met?
Albert and Paul, although no longer together, had been close and shared a home for almost 20 years. Albert and Mosquera had also previously been in a civil relationship.
The BBC reports that Albert had a background of partaking in extreme sexual activity and initially made contact with Mosquera on Skype in 2012. By 2017, their online interactions progressed to Albert paying Mosquera for increasingly explicit sexual videos.
Though they have been long-time online companions, the two only met in person in October 2023, when Albert became Mosquera’s sponsor for a trip to the UK. While there, Mosquera alleged he was being raped on a daily basis though he had previously signed a consent form allowing the videos to go online.
Escalation to Violence and Final Visit
The duo met up once again in March 2024 during a vacation to Cartagena, Colombia, where Paul was included. A couple of months after, in May, Albert again treated Mosquera to travel to London and live with them. While there, he gave Mosquera gym membership, a language course, and even booked him a holiday to Brighton.
In total, Mosquera had seen Albert and Paul three times: London (October 2023), Cartagena (March 2024), and London again (May 2024). The murders took place during the third visit, on July 8, 2024.
The Murders on Video
From court proceedings, it was testified that Mosquera initially attacked Paul with a hammer, killing him and hiding his body in a storage bed to wait for Albert’s return.
Albert’s death was captured on a camera already installed for recording their sexual encounter. Throughout the encounter, Mosquera stabbed Albert several times while mocking him. “Do you like it?” he could be heard saying as he delivered the fatal blows.
Following the killings, Mosquera still smeared with blood, danced in circles around the room and tried to remit funds from Albert’s computer to his own account.
