US President Donald Trump has once again defended his health, saying he remains in perfect condition despite growing public discussion around visible bruises on his hand and moments when he appeared drowsy during official events. The 79-year-old president expressed irritation over repeated questions about his physical condition and said the attention was unnecessary and exaggerated.
Trump addressed the issue during a recent interview, where he insisted that his well-being should not be questioned again and maintained that there is nothing wrong with him physically or mentally.
“Let’s talk about health again for the 25th time,” Trump said, adding, “My health is perfect.”
Why Trump Says His Hand Is Bruised
The president explained that the bruising seen on his hand is linked to his daily intake of aspirin, which he said he takes to keep his blood thin and his heart healthy. He suggested that aspirin makes him bruise more easily, especially during handshakes or physical gestures.
“They say aspirin is good for thinning out the blood, and I don’t want thick blood pouring through my heart. I want nice, thin blood pouring through my heart. Does that make sense?” Trump said.
Trump also revealed that he sometimes uses makeup or bandages when the bruises become visible. He shared a light-hearted explanation for one specific mark, saying it happened during a high-five with Attorney General Pam Bondi.
While speaking of his bruised hands, he said they were caused when his attorney general, Pam Bondi, hit the back of his hand with her ring while giving him a high-five.
Trump Rejects ‘Falling Asleep’ Claims
Recent images and videos showing Trump with his eyes closed during meetings have fueled speculation that he struggles to stay awake in public settings. The president strongly rejected those claims and said he has never been someone who sleeps much.
“I’ve never been a big sleeper,” Trump said, calling the instances where he is seen dozing off as “moments of relaxation”.
“I’ll just close. It’s very relaxing to me. Sometimes they’ll take a picture of me blinking, blinking, and they’ll catch me with the blink,” Trump told the Journal.
Clarifying the MRI and Hearing Questions
Trump also addressed reports suggesting he underwent an MRI scan in October. He denied those claims and clarified that he had a CT scan instead. A CT scan is quicker and commonly used, while an MRI takes longer and focuses on soft tissue imaging.
The president also denied claims that he has hearing issues, stating clearly that he does not face any such problem.
Political Irony and Lifestyle Scrutiny
The renewed focus on Trump’s health comes as critics recall his frequent attacks on former President Joe Biden, whom he repeatedly mocked as “Sleepy Joe.” The comparisons have resurfaced as Trump faces similar public scrutiny.
Trump’s lifestyle has also drawn attention over the years. He rarely exercises outside of golf outings and has openly spoken about his fondness for fast food that is high in fat and salt.
Despite the criticism, Trump remains firm in his message that he is healthy, energetic, and fully capable of leading.
