Officials in Panama City Beach, Florida, are investigating an alleged shooting heard near the busy beachside eatery Pineapple Willy’s. According to reports on WJHG.com, several witnesses said they heard around five shots fired in the vicinity.
After the incident, Pineapple Willy’s immediately evacuated their grounds as precaution. Although Panama City Beach Police acknowledged one individual was taken into custody, they have not yet made statements on whether the person is linked to the alleged shooting. Thankfully, up to this point, no injuries were reported, and the investigation continues.
The incident also provoked discussion online, particularly on the Facebook group ‘Lets talk Panama City Beach.’ A user wrote, “Shooting on the beach behind Pineapple Willy’s? Anybody know?”
Soon came comments from those who said they were around or had a friend who was. “I have a guest at Shores and she overheard the gunshots,” a user said. Another said, “Appears to be more action in the parking lot than the beach.” A third user commented, “Police and what appears to be a reporter on scene.”
One Facebook member described their trip through the area earlier in the evening: “We drove by that route around 6:30 and all was fine at that point! I asked my husband you really want to drive this way! lol! U never know about it! Hope everything is okay!”
