“Honestly, if he could bring about the end to this terrible war, if he could end it without putting Ukraine in a position where it had to concede its territory to the aggressor, could really stand up to Putin, something we haven’t seen, but maybe this is the opportunity, if President Trump were the architect of that, I’d nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize,” Clinton told host Jessica Tarlov.

Trump-Putin Summit Inches Closer: What To Expect

The Trump-Putin summit comments in a matter of hours, with everyone’s eyes set on what the meeting brings as a result. In the lead-up to this meeting, Trump has made his agenda clear; he has repeated his demand to put an end to this war. He has also threatened ‘severe consequences’ for Russia if a peace agreement is not reached in their Friday (15th August) meeting in Alaska.

In an interview with Fox Radio on Thursday, POTUS said that he believes that the chances of his meeting with Putin failing are 25%. Later, he said that he believes Russia is willing to make peace and shifted focus to a second meeting between all three nations, the USA, Ukraine and Russia.

With tensions rising as the clock ticks closer to the summit, everyone is curious to see if the years-long war between Russia and Ukraine can be stopped with diplomacy. There are also talks of a potential business deal between the two nations, which can incentivise both to reach a peaceful middle ground; however, nothing can be said until the meeting is behind us.

President Trump has confirmed a post-summit press conference, which will let the people know what the outcomes of the meeting were and what agreements have been reached, if any.

The meeting between the two leaders, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, will take place in Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska.
