Markieff Morris Speaks on Marcus’s Arrested In Florida

Following the arrest, Marcus’s brother Markieff posted on X (formerly Twitter), suggesting the situation was being blown out of proportion.

“The wording is crazy. Damn for that amount of money they’ll embarrass you in the airport with your family,” he wrote. “They got y’all really thinking bro did some fraud s–t. They could have came to the crib for all that… All I can say is lesson learned. Bro will tell y’all tomorrow.”

This is not Marcus’s first encounter with legal issues. In 2012, he entered a diversion program for a battery charge, and in 2015, he was found not guilty in an assault case stemming from an on-court altercation.

Morris has been a part of the NBA for 13 years, sporting several jerseys in that time, including the Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Cleveland Cavaliers. He last played in the 2023–24 season with the 76ers and Cavaliers.

He had a notable stint with the Knicks during the 2019–20 season, averaging 19.6 points and 5.4 rebounds across 43 games before being traded to the Clippers in a deal involving Moe Harkless. He briefly returned to the Knicks in 2023 on a training camp deal but was released shortly after.

In addition to his playing career, Morris had recently begun making appearances on ESPN’s “First Take.” His insights on the game and back and forth with First Take host Stephen A. Smith is something have have been enjoying lately.
