Miller Lite is marking International Beer Day, and its golden anniversary, by giving fans 50,000 free beers at 450 bars around the nation on Friday, Aug. 1.
The beer company will also stage a special New Year's Eve-type "Beer Drop" at the Miller Lite Brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The fans 21 or older but who can't get to any of the mentioned bars can still enjoy through an online option, the company added.
The one free can per person limit applies, a Miller Lite spokesperson explained to USA TODAY.
The firm started its 50th year anniversary in style by releasing gold cans in limited quantities earlier this summer and introducing an agreement with "Saturday Night Live" regular Marcello Hernandez.
Free Miller Lite will be served at 450 various pubs throughout America. To get the nearest participating destination closest to you, go to millerlite.com/find-celebration, type in your state, and search the list.
The brand will hold its flagship event at the Miller Lite Brewery in Milwaukee, where one-by-one cans drop from a gigantic six-pack installation at 4:50 p.m. local time. The event will also be streamed live with the installation dropping at 4:50 p.m. across different time zones.
Through Aug. 10, customers can purchase Coronitas, a small Corona, for only $1.99. The promotion is offered at participating locations while supplies last, based on the restaurant's website.
The company has more than 80 locations throughout the United States, the Caribbean and Central and South America, its website states.
The origin of International Beer Day dates back to 2007 and was the idea of four friends who, as InternationalBeerDay.com reports, began the day as a "celebration of beer and the people who provide it". The celebration takes place on the first Friday in August each year, as the website reports.
International Beer Day is distinct from National Beer Day, an event celebrated annually in April to commemorate the first legal sale of beer after Prohibition started in 1920.
