Much has happened in the United States politically, which has made many public figures, including comic Jimmy Kimmel, anxious.
The most recently speculated political reason behind the abrupt cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s late-night show from CBS led Kimmel to hint that he might move abroad to escape increasing pressure. This trend shows that a lot of entertainers are expressing their discomfort about the growing polarization of the political arena under President Donald Trump.
Italian Citizenship: All Prospects of Moving
Kimmel, in his all-too-open revelation on Sarah Silverman’s podcast, tells that he is now an Italian citizen. He traced his roots- through his mother- to his great-grandparents who emigrated from Naples following an earthquake that devastated their village in 1883.

His citizenship means that he now has the opportunity to relocate to Europe and perhaps exit the United States. Kimmel acknowledged that many, if not all, of his peers were already contemplating their citizenship alternatives, which made the phenomenon a wider sign of American artists seeking safer havens abroad.
Derogatory Remarks Towards Trump Second Term
Kimmel says what he wants about a second term for the President of the United States. He classified the situation as far worse than anybody could ever imagine even worse than what Trump himself would desire.
Silverman reflected this by emphasizing the deteriorating political and social state. Kimmel’s unmistakable criticism has been a proper tradition, starting with the denigration of Trump’s trade policies, as well as Trump purposely trying to throw the markets into turmoil to create a diversion from other issues.

Nicknamed “Don Valjean” for Donald Trump and “Lady Miserable” for Melania, Kimmel is never held back when it comes to this scathing issue.
Following Other Celebrities Overseas
Kimmel would then cross over to joining the growing list of American celebrities walking that long path to Europe, leaving behind all American politics in efforts to distance themselves from it. Others already in England and Ireland, respectively, are Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O’Donnell.
Considering Kimmel with a possible move of this nature emphasizes, however, how the divide is widening, with pressure internally on public figures.
An area wherein political activities are already exhibited or overwhelmingly dominate entertainment, Kimmel’s introspection shows that they take a national toll personally and what lengths some may consider to maintain their peace and artistic freedom.
