Gwyneth Paltrow reportedly earned a hefty amount for her cameo as a spokesperson for tech firm Astronomer. The hire followed a PR scandal over its then-CEO and head of HR, who were seen on camera sharing a hug at a Coldplay concert.

While the exact figure Paltrow earned remains undisclosed, journalist and biographer Amy Odell, who recently wrote a book about the actress, hinted that the amount likely ran into millions.

Gwyneth’s Earnings Revealed

Amy Odell went on Instagram to offer observations based on what she knows about Paltrow’s previous endorsement partnerships. She posted, “How much did Gwyneth Paltrow earn to be the extremely brief spokesperson for Astronomer, the firm that lost its CEO after the Coldplay kiss cam vibe went viral? I just authored a book about Gwyneth Paltrow, I have inside info on what she’s made off of previous endorsement partnerships, so let’s take a look.”

As reported by Odell, Paltrow has already made $1.6 million in the past for attending the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia. For attending a Skims launch party in 2023 to promote the brand’s Swarovski tie-up, she was paid $250,000. Moreover, a bigger deal with Swarovski paid her $1.25 million, just for wearing the brand a certain number of times.

“She also makes millions from promoting other companies. Where do you suppose she would be compensated for this one-minute video?” Odell further noted.

Public Responds to Paltrow’s Move

Odell’s statement triggered a chain of responses on the internet. Most regarded Paltrow’s endorsement as a strategic PR move carefully coordinated with the launch of Odell’s autobiography.

A user wrote, “She probably got paid a lot but a very smart strategic decision by her team for good PR. Win win.” Another added, “Since I know her and her kind heart. If she was paid, she would probably give the money to a charity.”

Another individual noted, “No bigger endorsement for an unauthorized biographer than for her subject to make this sort of huge PR stunt the weekend before book drop.”

But not everyone loved it. One grumpy viewer commented, “Waste of money. No one who uses Astronomer was thinking ‘man I’m going to quit now’ and then spotted a paid celebrity and thought ‘You know what, you son of a gun, I’m on again.’ No one cares.”

The Coldplay Scandal and Paltrow’s Role

The scandal started when Astronomer’s former chief executive Andy Byron and erstwhile HR head Kristen Cabot were spotted cuddling at a Coldplay concert, a scene that quickly went viral and elicited outrage. Astronomer retaliated by posting a brand marketing video starring Gwyneth Paltrow.

But the video sidestepped any reference to the scandal. Instead, it took a lighthearted tone, with Paltrow responding to a tongue-in-cheek, scripted question from what appeared to be a fan and extolling the company and its products.

After the controversy, co-founder Pete DeJoy became Astronomer’s new CEO in place of Byron.
