Christian singer Forrest Frank has lost nearly 30,000 Instagram followers after sharing his thoughts on Charlie Kirk’s assassination. But the singer says he is not upset about it and only wants people to follow Jesus.
Forrest Frank Speaks on Charlie Kirk
Last week, Frank posted a video of Charlie Kirk praising him for creating Christian music. In the clip, Frank became emotional and cried, saying he could not continue sharing his music without addressing Kirk’s death.
The video gained over 1 million likes and nearly 20,000 comments. Days later, Frank shared another video on September 14, revealing he had lost tens of thousands of followers because of his message.
“Good. I Don’t Want You to Follow Me”
“30,000 people unfollowed me because I posted about Charlie Kirk and I said Jesus Christ is Lord. Good. I don’t want you to follow me,” Frank said.
He added that he doesn’t want people streaming his music or attending his shows if they don’t follow Jesus.
“I don’t know if you can feel it too. There’s a heaviness, something shifted and I don’t care. I just want you to know that Jesus Christ is here and he loves you,” Frank continued.
Frank’s Message to Fans
In the caption of his video, Frank explained his decision further.
“i don’t care if you follow me, but i do care if you follow Jesus. i have nothing else to share but this one message and i repent for ways i’ve allowed my platform to be a lukewarm highlight real. From here on out i’m using as much energy as i can to let people know about the only thing that matters,” he wrote.
Fans filled his comment section with support. One user wrote: “GO FORREST GO!!!!!! THIS MADE ME SMILE.”
Another said, “Wow. I got even more respect for you. Wrong is wrong and you got to stand for what’s right even when they hate you for it. If you getting hate you doing something right.”
What Happened to Charlie Kirk?
Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist, was hosting a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University on September 10 when he was assassinated.
Police arrested Tyler Robinson, 22, on suspicion of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious injury, and obstruction of justice. A court ordered that Robinson be held without bail, and formal charges are expected soon.
Despite losing followers, Frank says he is committed to using his platform to spread his Christian faith. He told fans he will focus his energy on sharing the message of Jesus Christ.
