The FBI in Salt Lake City has released pictures of a “person of interest” in the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Officials are now asking for the public’s help to identify the individual. These are the first images law enforcement has shared of someone who may be connected to the shooting.
FBI Appeals for Public Help
The FBI released the photos during an active manhunt for Kirk’s shooter. Investigators have not yet named the suspect, but confirmed that the individual in the photos is under investigation. Authorities said the person “appears to be of college age.”

Officials urged the public to contact them with any tips that could help confirm the suspect’s identity. “We need the public’s assistance in identifying this person of interest,” an FBI spokesperson said.
Shooter Fled Across the Roof
At a press conference earlier today, investigators shared more details about the suspect’s movements. They said the shooter arrived on the Utah Valley University campus at 11:52 a.m. local time on Wednesday.

After firing at Kirk, the gunman is believed to have fled by jumping off the roof of a building. Video footage from inside another campus building shows someone running across the roof of the Losee Center building just moments after the shooting. Officials believe this was the shooter’s escape route before disappearing into a nearby neighborhood.
Crime Scene at Utah Valley University
The Utah Valley University campus in Orem remains an active crime scene. When reporters visited earlier today, the courtyard where Kirk was fatally shot was still sealed off with yellow police tape.
The area looked frozen in time. Attendees’ personal belongings, including bags and strollers, were left scattered across the lawn. The displays set up for Kirk’s Wednesday event were tipped over, serving as a stark reminder of the chaos that unfolded.
Manhunt Still Ongoing
The FBI and local police continue to search for the shooter. They are analyzing video footage, forensic evidence, and tips from the public. Investigators believe they have strong leads but have not yet released the suspect’s name.
The FBI confirmed earlier this week that they also recovered a high-powered bolt-action rifle believed to be the murder weapon, along with a shoe impression and palm print. Officials are using advanced technology to process the evidence.

Although authorities stressed that this was a targeted attack, the incident has left the university community shaken. Students and staff remain under heightened security as the investigation moves forward.
