President Donald Trump has again changed his stance on the Epstein Files, labelling the row a “scam” fueled by Democrats, while even insisting that the public be made to view all names mentioned in the files. Trump, in a post on Truth Social, blamed the “Radical Left” for using the Epstein case to take attention away from what he referred to as the “best six months in presidential history.”
But in a shock move, he also endorsed making the files available, declaring the grand jury records should come out. The Department of Justice interviewed Ghislaine Maxwell, the imprisoned Epstein associate, who, according to reports, was cooperative. The action comes as fury from Trump’s MAGA base continues to build, demanding greater transparency from the DOJ.
Trump Denounces Epstein Documents as Democrat
In his recent Truth Social post, President Trump stated that the Epstein scandal is being politicized by Democrats. He labelled it a reprise of the “Russia, Russia, Russia hoax.” Trump said, “The Radical Left Democrats are doing everything in their power to distract and obfuscate from our GREAT six months of service to America.” He referred to the scandal as a “Jeffrey Epstein SCAM” and asserted that it is a “Democrat CON JOB.”
But he also stated, “Everybody should see what’s there,” and hoped the grand jury documents would put the matter to rest. He further added, “Innocent people shouldn’t be harmed.”
This tweet is a partial change of tone from Trump’s previous rhetoric. Although he called the problem a hoax, now he appears to advocate complete disclosure — possibly under pressure from his supporters.
Maxwell Cooperates Fully in DOJ Interrogation
Ghislaine Maxwell was interrogated by the DOJ on July 24 as part of its revived investigation of the Epstein case. The questioning occurred at a courthouse in Tallahassee, Florida.
Maxwell’s attorney, David Markus, upheld her complete cooperation. “Ms. Maxwell responded to every single question. She never ceased, she never invoked a privilege, she never refused to answer,” he said. “She responded to all the questions honestly, truthfully, and to the best of her ability.
The DOJ has not yet revealed the content of the contact but vowed to disclose more “at the appropriate time.”
DOJ Walks into MAGA Criticism, Moves Towards Transparency
Trump’s changing words seem to be connected to increasing frustration among his base. The previous DOJ examination that dismissed a “client list” and upheld Epstein’s suicide as a genuine death did not provide many with closure.
Trump’s legal representative on Tuesday, Blanche, stated that the president “has instructed us to make public all credible evidence.” He went further to say that in case Maxwell has anything to do with any crime, the FBI and DOJ “will listen to what she has to say.”
The Justice Department now appears ready to demonstrate that it does not have anything to hide. While Trump both vilifies and supports disclosure, the heat on federal agencies keeps mounting.
The Epstein case is a long way from over. With increasing political and public pressure, the next few weeks could compel even more unwelcome realities into the open.
