JP Vance, the vice president, urged Elon Musk to mend fences with Donald Trump yesterday, and today, the SpaceX head indicated to once again further Trump’s political agenda.
On a far-right outlet, namely The Gateway Pundit, Vance has characterized the Musk-Trump feud as “mistaken”, wishing that things “cool down” as very soon, they will be approaching midterms. Musk’s influence does come in handy if he were “to come back to the fold”.
Musk Publicly Endorses Trump’s Moves in D.C.
Musk was quick to respond, as the very next morning bringing forth a series of supportive post on X regarding Trump’s plan on deploying the National Guard to Washington, D.C., where Attorney General Pam Bondi will control the district’s police force.
“Making America’s cities safe & beautiful must start in our nation’s capital,” Musk quoted word for word White House official Stephen Miller, adding that with a secure capital, “it would set a fantastic example for all American cities.”
When Trump ally Kari Lake hyped the president’s pledge to make Washington “safer and more beautiful than ever before,” Musk replied simply: “Excellent.”

Trump’s accolades over Vance’s ends
Monday’s press conference by Trump on crime with homelessness in D.C. had him cite his father’s advice: “If our capital is dirty, our whole country is dirty.” Musk instantly applauded that with: “Well said.”
That day went on with Musk venting some of his fascinated thoughts regarding Vance’s podcast appearance over his rights.
From Confrontationalism to Condolence.
That has changed dramatically only weeks ago, for instance, Musk’s sudden engagement turned sour with Trump over policy differences. Rising disagreements came with the termination of Musk’s special government employee role in May.

The Big Beautiful Bill penned by Trump has provisions that did not sit well with Musk. Accusations by Musk about Trump being found in the ‘alleged Epstein files’ saw the latter threaten federal contracts involving Musk’s companies.
Musk finally deleted his post, admitting he had “gone too far,” while Trump softened, calling Musk “a good person” who had “a really bad moment.”
Politico Implications
Renewed support of Musk for Trump may have far-reaching political consequences, as both command unequal influence in their respective spheres. At least for now, Vance’s intervention appears to have helped thaw relations-and, again, until the next head-on clash of egos.
