The White House would be well placed to respond to a query on a move for Nobel Peace Prize to US President Donald Trump.

MEA Spokesperson Refers Query to White House

At a media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal was asked about the White House’s campaign for Trump being awarded a Nobel Peace Prize, saying he resolved a number of conflicts globally, including India and Pakistan.

“It is better to take this question to the White House,” Randhir Jaiswal said in response.

White House Claims Trump Ended Multiple Global Conflicts

Earlier in the day, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt advocated for a Nobel Peace Prize for the US President, claiming he “ended conflicts between Thailand and Cambodia, Israel and Iran, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, India and Pakistan, Serbia and Kosovo and Egypt and Ethiopia.”

The White House official argued that on an average, Trump had brokered one peace deal every month during his six months being President. “It’s well past time that President Trump was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize,” she said.

India Refutes Trump’s Ceasefire Claim, Pakistan Thanks Him

Even as New Delhi has made it clear again and again that the India-Pakistan ceasefire was arrived at bilaterally, Donald Trump has asserted on numerous occasions that he arranged the ceasefire, even attributing it to commerce.

Whereas New Delhi has consistently rejected his claim, Islamabad has thanked Trump for arranging the deal.

Pakistan Nominates Trump for 2026 Nobel Peace Prize

Earlier in June, Trump was nominated for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize by Pakistan for his “diplomatic intervention and decisive leadership” when India and Pakistan clashed.

“Government of Pakistan Recommends President Donald J. Trump for 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. The Government of Pakistan has decided to formally recommend President Donald J. Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, in recognition of his decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership during the recent India-Pakistan crisis,” the government of Pakistan had said.

But the Norwegian Nobel Committee, which decides recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize, has never made any public statements regarding Trump’s nomination.
