Did The Simpsons Really Predict Andy Byron’s Cheating Scandal?

Fans wrongly believed 'The Simpsons' predicted CEO Andy Byron’s cheating scandal. An AI-generated image went viral, sparking rumors, but Astronomer confirmed a formal investigation.

The Simpsons is usually given the nod for foretelling real-life occurrences eerily, and now it's back in the limelight again. This time around, fans are convinced that the animated sitcom predicted the cheating scandal surrounding Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and the firm's head of HR, Kristin Cabot.

The couple was seen getting intimate at a Coldplay concert, a cringe-worthy moment that was captured in the big screen.

Facebook and Twitter users were quick to attribute this on-screen incident to a scene from The Simpsons Season 28 called Kiss Kiss.

In the episode, Homer is at first reluctant before kissing Marge after they are spotted by a kiss cam at a baseball stadium. A supposed picture of a similar scene involving animated representation of Andy and Kristin was passed around online, speculating that the show had foreseen the scandal yet again.

But the viral photo is fake. It was actually generated with AI and never existed on the original show. Nevertheless, that did not discourage fans from making wrong assumptions. "The Simpsons predicting the future YET AGAIN of the CEO at Coldplay situation," said one user. Another said, "Anything The Simpsons don't know?"

Watch:

Though the viral theory has caused an uproar online, neither The Simpsons' creators nor Coldplay have spoken on the issue. Nonetheless, Astronomer, the data firm led by Andy Byron, did issue an official response to the controversy. The firm posted on X (formerly Twitter):

"Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability. The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter and we will have additional details to share very shortly. Alyssa Stoddard was not at the event and no other employees were in the video. Andy Byron has not put out any statement; reports saying otherwise are all incorrect."

As for the incident itself, onlookers claim Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot were oblivious they were on camera initially. When they realized they had been recorded, both of them immediately covered their faces, visibly embarrassed.

The internet might be enamored with The Simpsons and its purported predicting abilities, but in this instance, the animated series wasn't responsible for the "prophecy"—AI was.
