Chilling footage has surfaced showing a dark figure running across the rooftop of a Utah Valley University (UVU) building moments after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot dead on Wednesday.
The clip, filmed from inside a nearby building, captured the panic of the 3,000 people who had gathered for Kirk’s event. As the gunshot rang out, the crowd dropped for cover. Above them, the shadowy figure appeared to move quickly across the roof, possibly fleeing the scene.
Suspect Seen Lying on Rooftop Before Attack
Another video reportedly taken earlier in the day showed what appeared to be a person lying flat on the rooftop. Witnesses can be heard in the clip questioning what they were seeing.

“There’s somebody on the roof right there,” one person said. “He just ran from over there, ran in, now he’s right there.” Moments later, Kirk was fatally shot while answering a question about mass shootings.
Charlie Kirk Shot During Campus Event
Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was seated under a tent, speaking to the audience. Video taken close to the stage showed him slumping in his chair as blood poured from his neck. His security team rushed to his side and immediately carried him off campus.

Kirk was pronounced dead shortly after the shooting. His death shocked supporters nationwide, as he was one of the most recognizable conservative voices in the United States.
Chaos as Authorities Search for Shooter
While the campus fell into chaos, emergency dispatchers scrambled to locate the gunman. “UVU reporting one individual that was shot, unknown where the shooter went,” a dispatcher said in audio obtained by TMZ.
When asked how many were injured, the reply was, “Just one person.”

Two individuals were initially taken into custody but were later cleared and released. Authorities continue to investigate, with the suspect still at large.
Suspect Description and Weapon
Police said the suspect was wearing jeans, a black shirt, and a black vest. The person reportedly had a long rifle and was on a rooftop east of the UVU library.

Investigators think the shooter fired from the roof before escaping. The FBI and local police are now checking surveillance videos, talking to witnesses, and studying evidence from the scene.
