The Astronomer incident has been in the headlines for days at this point. The incident started with its former CEO, Andy Byron and HR head, Kristin Cabot’s kiss cam moment at a Coldplay concert in Massachusetts. Now, in a surprising move, the company’s interim CEO, Pete DeJoy, has reacted to the situation.
Pete DeJoy Reacts to Kiss Cam Controversy
The kiss cam controversy is showing no sign of cooling down and has sparked a wave of memes. In addition to this, its interim CEO has also reacted to the situation by liking a LinkedIn post by former VP Zachary Hensley. In his LinkedIn post, Hensley wrote, “The last couple days have been . . . weird, as a former Astronomer employee. I’ve seen the memes (and shared more than a few), reconnected with folks I haven’t talked to in a couple of years, and felt a strange mix of pride, nostalgia, and whiplash.”
In the post, Hensley also shared his experience at Astronomer and how he feels about the company as a whole. He also shared insight into the function of startups during the pandemic and how people supported each other ” even when it had nothing to do with work.”
“That spirit didn’t disappear when I left,” the former VP wrote in his post. “They care about the product. About the customers. But, most importantly, they care about each other,” he continued.
He also had a few words of encouragement for the people working at the company while sharing his reaction to the memes. “So, yes, I’ve laughed at the memes. But I also know Astronomer is more than one moment or one person. It’s a team of smart, kind, driven people doing incredible work. And I’ll always be rooting for them.”
Although not directly, the data infrastructure company’s interim CEO reacted to the situation by leaving a like on Zachary Hensley’s post.
Andy Byron Resigns From Astronomer
In a recent update on the situation, Astronomer shared that former CEO Andy Byron has submitted his resignation. The company is now in search of its next CEO. Meanwhile, Pete Dejoy continues to serve as interim CEO.
“Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted. The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO,” the company wrote in their LinkedIn post.
