US President Donald Trump, who claimed that the U.S.-provided jets were downed during the India-Pak conflict, has now changed his statement. He has once again stated that he mediated peace between the two countries, and this time he said that seven jets were downed during the military clashes in May 2025.

His statement is followed by India's Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh confirmed that five Pakistani fighter jets were downed using the S-400 air defense system during Operation Sindoor.

He added that it is the largest surface-to-air kill ever. Singh further mentioned that one large Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft was also shot down during the operation.

Trump's Claim of 'Stopping Nuclear War'

Trump has repeatedly claimed to mediate peace and a ceasefire deal between India and Pakistan. These claims are strongly dismissed by India, adding that the ceasefire was established after a clear request from Pakistan.

Trump stated, The war with India and Pakistan was the next level that was going to be a nuclear war... They already shot down 7 jets - that was raging.”

Trump further said that he used trade as leverage to force both countries to put an end to the conflict. He said, “I said, ‘You want to trade? We are not doing any trade or anything with you, if you keep fighting. You’ve got 24 hours to settle it.’ They said, ‘Well, there’s no more war going on.’”
