Donald Trump again claimed credit for the India-Pakistan ceasefire, saying '6-7 planes came down' during the 2019 conflict, highlighting his role in easing tensions between the nations.
US President Donald Trump once again claimed that he played a significant role in establishing the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. India launched a retaliatory strike, 'Operation Sindoor', on Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, after the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 innocent individuals. The Indian Forces targeted nine terror sites in Pakistan and killed over 100 terrorists.
Trump claims that 'six or seven' planes came down before the ceasefire. However, he did not clarify which side faced the losses.

“I have solved six wars in the last six months. I am very proud of that,” he claimed. “If you look at Pakistan and India, planes were being knocked out of the air; six or seven planes came down. They were ready to go nuclear; we solved that.”

Trump has previously made such claims about mediating a truce between the two countries. India has constantly denied the claims and emphasizied that the decision was the country's, solely. In a recent Lok Sabha address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that 'no third party' was involved. He confirmed that the ceasefire was established after Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) requested, and India had achieved '100% of its objectives'.

After Trump imposed a 50% tariff on Indian imports, the relations between the two nations have been facing strains. President Trump also accused India of supporting Russia's warfare by buying Russian oil.
