Vijay Kumar Sheoran, an Indian student from Haryana, was fatally stabbed in the United Kingdom. His family has appealed to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar for help in bringing his body back to India. Vijay Kumar, who studied at the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, was killed on November 25. Reports suggest that the attackers were from Haryana and Punjab. The family described the incident as “devastating” and expressed their deep sorrow over the tragic loss. The police earlier confirmed that five men were arrested in connection with the incident after the student was found with serious injuries on Barbourne Road. These men have been released on bail while the investigation continues.

Vijay Kumar Sheoran was found with life-threatening injuries in Barbourne Road and was taken to hospital, where he later declared died of his injuries. West Mercia Police added a sixth man had also been arrested on suspicion of murder, but he had since been released with no further action.

Who was Vijay Kumar Sheoran?

The victim Vijay Kumar Sheoran hailed from Jagrambas village in Charkhi Dadri district, Haryana. Reports suggest that Vijay had left a government post with the Central Board of Excise and Customs earlier this year to pursue higher studies in the UK. He was enrolled at the University of the West of England (UWE) in Bristol, although this could not be independently verified.

MLA Demands Urgent Action

Charkhi Dadri MLA Sunil Satpal Sangwan expressed his condolences on Twitter, stating that Vijay lost his life following a brutal stabbing in Worcester. He urged the Indian government to intervene in support of the family, the repatriation of Vijay’s body, and to oversee a transparent, fair, and timely investigation.

Sangwan demanded justice from the authorities for the perpetrators. He also extended condolences to the family of Vijay and assured them of full solidarity during this time of grief.

Investigation Ongoing

Police are continuing to investigate the incident by gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. They acknowledged the five men arrested in the case were released on bail and that police authorities treat the case with urgency until all the facts are ascertained and justice is meted out.
