HAMBURG, Oct 16 (Reuters) – Turkey's state grain board TMO has provisionally purchased about 18,000 metric tons of crude sunflower oil in an international tender also seeking up to 18,000 tons which closed on Thursday, European traders said. About 12,000 metric tons was bought from seller Aves for delivery to the ports of Iskenderun/Mersin at an estimated $1,336.50 a metric ton cost and freight included (c&f), traders said. Another 6,000 metric tons for delivery to Tekirdag is also believed to have been sold by Aves at an estimated $1,344 a ton c&f. Purchases in TMO tenders are provisional and subject to later confirmation. Purchases can be reduced or even cancelled completely. Reports reflect assessments from traders and further estimates of prices and volumes are still possible later. Delivery was sought between November 3 and November 28. Supplies already in customs bonded warehouses in Turkey could also be offered in the tender. Traders say Turkey’s grains harvest was smaller than hoped this year, generating a need for imports to stabilise prices and ensure sufficient supplies. (Reporting by Michael Hogan)
