Trump’s youngest son withdraws from his political debut

The youngest son of the former US President Donald Trump, Barron Trump, has chosen not to attend this year’s Republican National Convention as a delegate, according to a report from CNN. Despite being chosen by the Florida GOP to represent them as an at-large delegate at the July convention, Melania Trump made this decision, according to a statement from her office and a senior campaign aide to Trump. Barron’s disappointment at turning down the honour because of previous obligations was conveyed by Melania Trump’s office.

Barron’s first public foray into politics would have occurred if he had accepted. In addition to Barron, other Trump family members, including Tiffany, Eric, and Donald Jr., were also selected as delegates.

The Republican National Committee has set a convention in Milwaukee for July. After discussing potential running mates in both public and private, CNN reports that Donald Trump made a suggestion that he would reveal his choice of mate around the time of the convention.

While discussing his youngest son in a radio interview, Trump praised Barron, noting his tall stature, good looks, academic achievements, and interest in politics. He mentioned Barron occasionally offering him political advice, highlighting their close relationship. Trump also mentioned Barron’s upcoming transition to college and expressed concerns about recent events under the Biden administration.

Throughout Donald Trump’s presidency, Barron was mostly shielded from the public eye. He was ten years old when his father entered the White House in 2016. According to The Hill, Barron is the son of Donald and Melania Trump.
