Trump Criticizes Biden’s Pardon, Calls It ‘Miscarriage of Justice’

The incoming US President Donald Trump criticized Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son, Hunter Biden, who faced charges related to gun crimes and tax violations. Trump called the pardon a “miscarriage of justice” and questioned if it would also apply to those imprisoned for their involvement in the January 6 Capitol riots.

Trump’s Post on Truth Social

In a post on Truth Social, Trump asked, “Does the Pardon given by Joe to Hunter include the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years? Such an abuse and miscarriage of Justice!” Trump and his supporters refer to the people arrested during the January 6 riots as “hostages,” claiming they acted peacefully and patriotically.

Speculation About Trump Pardoning Rioters

Many believe that once Trump becomes president, he may issue pardons for the people involved in the Capitol Hill riots. Trump has shown support for them, stating they were treated unfairly.

Hunter Biden’s Pardon

Earlier this week, Joe Biden signed a pardon for his son Hunter. This action ensures that Hunter will not face prison time for his charges. The pardon removes the possibility of any sentencing.

Biden Defends His Decision

In a statement, Biden defended his decision, stating that individuals facing tax-related issues due to addiction typically receive non-criminal resolutions. He argued that Hunter’s case was handled differently, leading to felony charges without any aggravating factors.

Biden also emphasized that he did not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making process. He said, “Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter. From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively and unfairly prosecuted.”

Biden Addresses Political Pressure

Biden said that political opponents in Congress pushed for the charges against his son. He noted that political pressure caused a plea deal, negotiated with the Department of Justice, to collapse in court.

“The charges in his cases came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election,” Biden said. “Then, a carefully negotiated plea deal, agreed to by the Department of Justice, unraveled in the courtroom—with a number of my political opponents in Congress taking credit for bringing political pressure on the process.”

Biden Believes Charges Were Politically Motivated

Biden argued that the charges against Hunter were politically motivated. He believes that Hunter was targeted because of their father-son relationship. Despite his faith in the justice system, Biden said that politics influenced the case, leading to a “miscarriage of justice.”

Biden concluded his statement by expressing frustration over the political interference, calling it a “miscarriage of justice.”
