In a devastating incident, on Friday, near the village of Achi-Su in Russia, a Russian Ka-226 helicopter crashed, and at least five people lost their lives. Included among the deceased were several senior staff with key positions in one of the major defense-linked aviation companies. A disturbing video of the accident has been shared online, showing the final, tragic moments of the flight.
Ka-226 Struggles to Take Off
The clip shows the helicopter, a Ka-226 model, trying to take off from a sandy area close to the shoreline. The aircraft appears unsteady, tilting precariously right from the start.

It then hovers very low over the water. The pilot seems to struggle hard to keep the chopper stable as waves splash beneath it, suggesting a problem began early in the flight.
During a critical moment, the helicopter’s tail section broke off. This massive damage did not stop the pilot from having one last, brave effort of raising the aircraft a bit over the shallow water.
Unfortunately, the pilot could not maintain control for long. The severely damaged aircraft quickly went down, ending in a disaster.

Five Employees Die in Tragedy
The helicopter was ferrying senior staff of KEMZ, a company dealing in the defense aviation industry. This makes the loss even more significant for the company.
The five people who were killed include the deputy general director of the company, the chief engineer, the chief designer, and the helicopter’s mechanic.
One other person brings the total number of people who have been killed to five. The accident happened near the village of Achi-Su, leaving the community in shock.
Reason Behind the Crash
The reason for the crash is as yet unknown. Russian aviation authorities have classified the incident as a “disaster,” which means that a full and serious investigation is now in progress.
Investigators will look into all possible reasons for the crash, either technical failure or human error, to understand why the tail broke off and why the helicopter struggled so badly to take off.
The terrible footage is a sad reminder of the risks one takes in aviation, and respect to the pilot who struggled to save the plane to the very end.
