48 Dead In Russian Plane Crash, Criminal Case Filed

The crash is reported to have taken the lives of 42 passengers, including five children, and six crew members. According to Reuters, a criminal case has been filed for the suspected violation of air traffic and air transport rules. Reportedly, the plane involved in the crash had passed a recent safety check and was involved in four minor incidents since 2018.

The transport prosecutor’s office has revealed that a second landing was attempted near the Tynda airport before the plane lost communication.

The Antov An-24 was designed in 1957, and this recent crash has led to conversations regarding flight safety and the use of such old planes. The plane is still operational and part of the active fleet in many countries. This crash might lead to airlines questioning flight safety, and may lead to an increased standard of safety for such old planes on longer flights.
