Russia protests Pope Francis’ condemnation of Ukraine war

Following Pope Francis’ most recent condemnation of the “cruelty” of Russia’s activities in Ukraine, the Russian envoy communicated Moscow’s strong dissatisfaction to the Vatican, according to RIA Novosti.

In an interview, Francis had stated to the Jesuit magazine America: “Because I am well informed about the brutality of the incoming troops, I discuss it when I talk about Ukraine. The cruellest people tend to be those who are from Russia but do not follow traditional Russian culture, like Chechens, Buryati, and so forth. Without a doubt, the Russian state is the one that invades. This is very clear.”
