( ) WASHINGTON, Oct 8 (Reuters) – Recent economic data indicates some softening in the U.S. economy, Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the International Monetary Fund, said on Wednesday. Georgieva, speaking at an event hosted by the Milken Institute, said it was critical for the U.S. to work on cutting its large federal deficit. At a time of great economic uncertainty, she said countries everywhere needed both the agility of the private sector, and good government data and strong institutions to ensure a level playing field.
