During the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit held in Georgetown, Guyana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed a comprehensive seven-pillar framework for enhanced collaboration between India and CARICOM countries.

CARICOM Framework: 7 Pillars for Growth

The framework is built around the acronym C.A.R.I.C.O.M., with each letter symbolizing a key area of cooperation:

– C: Capacity Building

India will increase ITEC scholarships by adding 1,000 slots over the next five years. Plans include establishing forensic centres and offering parliamentary training to CARICOM nations.

– A: Agriculture and Food Security

Focus on sharing expertise to enhance food security and sustainable agricultural practices.

– R: Renewable Energy and Climate Change

Joint efforts to combat climate change and develop renewable energy solutions.

– I: Innovation, Technology, and Trade

Boosting technology-driven partnerships and facilitating trade between the regions.

– C: Cricket and Culture

Strengthening cultural exchanges and promoting cricket as a shared passion.

– O: Ocean Economy and Maritime Security

Enhancing cooperation in marine resources, maritime security, and oceanic sustainability.

– M: Medicine and Healthcare

Collaborating on healthcare initiatives, including affordable medicines and advanced medical technologies.
