PM Modi Oman Visit: On December 17, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, landed in Muscat, kicking off a two-day state visit of Oman, thus completing his three-country tour that had previously taken him to Jordan and Ethiopia. 

Coming as India celebrates 70 years of diplomatic ties with Oman, the state visit symbolizes India’s continued endeavor to develop its relationship with Gulf countries and explore cooperative areas, including strategic and economic ties.

PM Modi Warm Welcome & Cultural Reception

On arrival, PM Modi was received by Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said. The reception displayed the hospitable side of Omani culture, and PM Modi thanked the people of Oman for their warm welcome through a post on social media platform X. 

In his hotel, a colorful cultural program organized by members of the Indian diaspora community took place including Omani dance and a mix of Indian performances such as Kuchipudi, Kathak, Ghoomer of Rajasthan, Yakshagana of Karnataka, freestyle Bollywood and a Gujarati song. Even within this gala, the people to people connect between India and Oman is evident.

India Oman Trade: Strategic & Defence Dialogue

PM Modi and Sayyid Shihab dwelled on how to improve defense cooperation. This dialogue is a sign of strong support on behalf of both countries to maintain regional stability and joint security efforts.

This will help them outline a platform to work on joint projects including defense training programs, maritime security and counter-terrorism. This marks increased Indian interest in the Gulf region.

India Oman Trade: Bilateral Cooperation & Business Engagement

During this visit, PM Modi will hold talks with Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to discuss the full range of bilateral relations. This includes talks on regional and international matters of joint interest, trade and economic cooperation.

A Business Forum will see industry leaders from both sides meet to discuss opportunities and enhance investment links and joint ventures. This is yet another example of the desire for economic diplomacy initiatives in Oman from the government of India.

India Oman Trade: Community Interaction & Education Focus

Besides holding formal talks, PM Modi would engage with students and representatives from the Indian communities in Oman. These meetings reflect the country’s desire to sustain strong cultural and academic ties with its diaspora communities.

Through such gestures, which acknowledge the role of Indians living abroad, PM Modi tends to emphasize the significance of people centered foreign relations.

How will Relations Improved Between India & Oman

This visit, marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relationships between India and Oman, is a turning point in their bilateral relationship.
