Focus on Global South

As a Troika member, India plays a pivotal role in shaping the G20 agenda. PM Modi underscored that Brazil, following India’s presidency, will continue to emphasize the priorities of the Global South.

In Brazil, I will attend the 19th G-20 Summit as a Troika member. Last year, India’s presidency transformed G20 into a platform for the Global South. Brazil is now building on this legacy,” PM Modi said.

The discussions will revolve around the summit’s theme: One Earth, One Family, One Future. PM Modi is also set to hold bilateral talks with other world leaders to enhance cooperation in various sectors.

Strengthening India-Nigeria Ties

Before departing for Brazil, PM Modi wrapped up his state visit to Nigeria, where he held official talks with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Had a very productive discussion with President Tinubu. We explored ways to boost our strategic partnership across defence, energy, technology, and more,” PM Modi posted on X.

G20 Leadership Continuity

India’s G20 presidency last year set a robust foundation by promoting inclusive growth and sustainable development. Brazil is expected to carry forward these initiatives, maintaining a strong focus on the Global South and fostering international cooperation.
