Pakistan’s Peshawar Court Grants Extension of Protective Bail to Bushra Bibi

The Peshawar High Court has extended Bushra Bibi’s protective bail until January 16. The court has also exempted her from appearing in court, according to The Express Tribune.

Court’s Decision

A two-member bench, consisting of Justice Sahibzada Asadullah and Justice Waqar Ahmad, heard the case. Bushra Bibi’s lawyer, Alam Khan Adeenzai, appeared along with Additional Attorney General (AAG) Sanaullah, NAB Special Deputy Prosecutor General Mohammad Ali, and Additional Advocate General Inamullah.

Adeenzai explained that Bushra Bibi couldn’t attend the hearing because she had a Toshakhana case hearing in Islamabad. He filed a request for her exemption from the Peshawar court.

Developments in the Case

The AAG mentioned that two cases were under consideration. The first case report had been submitted, and the court planned to discuss its admissibility. The court had earlier stated that they would first focus on the admissibility of the case.

Special Deputy Prosecutor General Mohammad Ali provided the court with reports on three cases against Bushra Bibi. The court granted her exemption request and extended her protective bail until January 16. The hearing was adjourned.

Toshakhana Case Update

Last week, the Islamabad District and Sessions Court extended interim bail for both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana 2.0 case. Their bail was extended until January 7, as reported by The Express Tribune. The hearing was held by Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Mujoka.

During the hearing, junior lawyers appeared on behalf of the accused. They explained that senior lawyers couldn’t attend due to another case being heard at Central Jail Adiala.

The cases against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi continue to evolve, with key hearings set for the near future.
