A tragic accident took place near Ahmedabad Town in Narowal, Pakistan, on Tuesday when a speeding passenger bus lost control and plunged into a roadside pond, according to Dawn.
The bus was traveling from Gujranwala to Zafarwal when the driver reportedly lost control. The vehicle overturned and submerged in the water, trapping several passengers inside, including women and children.
Rescue Operation: Two Dead, Several Injured
Rescue teams from Rescue 1122, led by District Emergency Officer Engineer Muhammad Aurangzeb, quickly responded to the scene. They recovered the bodies of two passengers Sohaib (30) and Sadia Bibi (38) from the bus.
Thirteen others were rescued and given first aid before being shifted to a hospital. Among the injured were Zarqa (13), Ali Raza (23), Fatima (5), and others.
Eyewitnesses Tufail and Nasir Hussain blamed the accident on the bus’s high speed and the poor condition of the road. Two of the injured remain in critical condition, according to Rescue 1122.
Separate Tragedy in Sheikhupura: One Killed, Eight Injured
In another incident, a motorcycle-rickshaw carrying a family crashed into a parked trailer near Kot Abdul Malik on Lahore Road, Sheikhupura. The rickshaw was reportedly speeding toward Lahore from Farooqabad.
Parveen Bibi (55) died on the spot, while eight members of her family suffered injuries, said Rescue 1122 spokesperson Rana Haroon Ali.
Driver Flees, Victims Rushed to Hospital
The rickshaw driver fled the scene, leaving the injured behind. Rescue teams arrived quickly, treated the injured, and transported them to the local government hospital. The body of the deceased woman was handed over to police for further action.
